Package Lockers Utilized as Smart Solution for Columbia Residents

Teams in Columbia Mail, Residential and Housing have all explored ways to make this process more secure and convenient.
Residential adds Amazon Lockers
Columbia Residential has added Amazon Lockers to 39 of its buildings, offering the students, faculty, and staff who live in these buildings a convenient and secure option for Amazon deliveries. The team at Columbia Residential supported the addition of these lockers by creating outlets for electric service, ensuring Wi-Fi connections, and relocating lobby furniture as needed to support these updates. This service is available to building residents at no additional cost.
Columbia Mail rolls out additional lockers for Undergrad Residents
Columbia Mail installed new smart lockers in Carlton Arms, Schapiro, and Lerner Hall – in addition to the lockers already in place in the lower level of Wien Hall and the John Jay lobby.
Columbia Mail’s after-hours locker banks expand access for undergraduate residential students living in Columbia Housing. It allows for package pick up outside of regular service hours, with a focus on convenience for students that live on the south and west sides of campus – those buildings furthest from the Student Mail Center in Wien Hall. The lockers are intended for critical needs such as medication, items of high value, heavy packages, and perishable items.
The new lockers became available for use in March 2025 and saw significant traffic immediately after coming online.
